Using this portal

How the portal is put together, and what to do when something is not working. For questions about your case itself, open the case and choose Ask about the process.

What each page is for

  • Today

Your starting point. It lists the cases you have with us and how each one is being handled. Everything that belongs to a case — its dates, documents, billing and questions — lives on the case itself.

    Open Today →
  • Your case

Open a case from Today. It shows what is waiting on you, the dates on the case and where each date came from, and it says plainly who is handling the case: you, you with a lawyer on call, or us.

  • Documents

Inside a case. Lists what exists on that case and where each one came from — you, us, the court, or the other party. Documents cannot be opened or drafted in the portal yet.

  • Billing

Inside a case. What that case costs, anything outstanding, and when the card on file is charged. Payments cannot be made from the portal.

  • Ask about the process

Inside a case. MAX can tell you how the process works — what a step involves, which forms it needs, what the rules require and in what order. It cannot tell you what to do about your own situation.

  • Financial Disclosures

Cases that require them link to this from the case. Not every case does: a dissolution does, a name change does not. The workspace is not yet linked to individual cases, so it currently shows an example rather than your own file.

    Open Financial Disclosures →
  • Messages

A record of correspondence. Replying from the portal is not available. Like Financial Disclosures, this page is not yet linked to individual cases and currently shows an example.

Sending us a document

  • Where the upload controls are

Only in the financial disclosure workspace at the moment, and that workspace is still an example, so nothing uploaded there is kept. Until it is connected, send documents to us the way you normally would.

  • The document is only on paper

Photograph it with all four corners visible and the text in focus. For a multi-page document, photograph every page. A clear phone photo is fine — it does not need a scanner.

  • What formats work

PDF, Word documents, PNG and JPG.

If something looks wrong

  • Information about your case is wrong

Tell us which information needs looking at. Dates are worth checking against anything you receive from the court — every date in the portal says where it came from, so you can see whether it was set by the court, fixed by a rule, or recorded by us.

  • You sent the wrong file

Tell us which one. Removing a file is not something you can do from the portal.

  • You do not understand something we have asked for

Ask us. If it is a question about how the process works, the case's Ask about the process page may answer it faster.
